SAN BRUNO, Calif. - The West Coast Conference has named its Men's Basketball Player of the Week for January 12, 2015.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - STACY DAVIS, JR., F - PEPPERDINE
Junior forward Stacy Davis averaged 20.5 points and 7.5 rebounds and led the Waves in scoring twice as Pepperdine earned a pair of milestone road victories this weekend. Davis had 23 points and eight rebounds in the Waves' win at BYU, then had 18 points and seven rebounds in a victory at San Diego.
He shot 52.0% (12-for-20) from the field and 81.3% (13-for-16) from the foul line. He also had totals of three blocked shots, two assists and two steals. He accomplished all this despite coming off the bench for the first two times this season. In a defensive-minded game at USD, Davis was the only player on both teams to score in double-figures.
Davis' defense, along with the rest of his teammates, helped limit opponents to an average of 54.0 points over the two games. BYU was leading the nation in scoring but was held to 27 points below the Cougars' average. The Toreros were held to 19 points below their average.
This was the first time the Waves have won twice on the road in the same weekend in WCC play since 2002 and Thursday's win in Provo was the first for Pepperdine since BYU joined the league (and first there since 1985-86). At 4-1 in the WCC, the Waves are off to their best WCC start since the 2002 campaign.
Also Nominated: Tyler Haws, BYU; Przemek Karnowski, Gonzaga; Kruize Pinkins, San Francisco; Brad Waldow, Saint Mary's
