WCC Teams Close Out WCC Play This Weekend
West Coast Conference teams close out league play this weekend with big matchups that have WCC Tournament implications. Gonzaga, which has locked up the WCC regular season title and the No. 1 seed in next week's conference tournament at the Orleans Arena, travels to San Diego, while Portland heads to Santa Clara to take on the Broncos. In other action, Saint Mary's wraps up conference play at Loyola Marymount and San Francisco travels to Pepperdine.

Portland And Saint Mary's Tied For Second Place
The Pilots and the Gaels enter the final game of the conference season tied for second place in the league standings with identical 9-4 WCC records. At stake is the No. 2 seed in next week's conference tournament at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. The WCC Men's and Women's Basketball Championships utilizes a merit-based format, rewarding the top four seeds for their performance during conference play. The top two seeds earn double byes into the semifinals, while the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds earn first round byes into the quarterfinals.

Gonzaga Sets Sights On Undefeated Conference Record
Despite already locking up the WCC regular season title and the No. 1 seed for the WCC Tournament, Gonzaga still has plenty to play for in this Saturday's game at San Diego. The Bulldogs will be looking to accomplish something that has never been done before since the league's current eight-team alignment (1980-81). The Zags will be looking to become the first team since the league moved to its current eight team membership to post three undefeated conference season records. Gonzaga posted unblemished conference marks in 2005-06 and in 2003-04. Currently, Gonzaga and Memphis are the only teams in the country with undefeated conference records.

Santa Clara's John Bryant Doubles Up
Santa Clara center John Bryant continued his dominating senior season, posting his nation-leading 23rd double-double in the Broncos' setback versus Gonzaga on Thursday evening. Bryant, who currently leads the nation in overall rebounds, now has 1,064 career rebounds, moving him into 11th place on the WCC's all-time rebounding chart. Bryant needs 40 more rebounds to break into the WCC's career top 10. In addition, his 238 career blocks rank second all-time in WCC history.
