HOUSTON, TEXAS -- Saint Mary's senior guard Mickey McConnell has been selected by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) to play for the West All-Stars at the annual Reese's® College All-Star game, which will be played as part of the 2011 NCAA® Final Four® on Friday, April 1, at 2:35 p.m. (Pacific) at Reliant Stadium.
The game will feature two teams of the most outstanding college seniors in the nation and will be televised live on TruTV.
McConnell, the 2011 West Coast Conference Player of the Year, is a two-time all-WCC selection and was among the national leaders in assists, three-point shooting and free throw percentage this season. He concluded his career at Saint Mary's as one of the school's career leaders in several categories and helped lead the Gaels to an impressive 116-29 record over the last four years.
The coaches for the game are former Oklahoma coach Billy Tubbs, who led the Sooners to the NCAA championship game in 1988 and Bill Foster, who guided Duke to the NCAA title contest in 1978.
