SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- The West Coast Conference held its annual summer Executive Council and Presidents' Council meetings earlier this month at the Canyons Resort in Park City, Utah. The Executive Council spent much of the meeting working on an updated three-year strategic plan, and both groups discussed the changing national landscape and other national issues affecting campuses.
The meetings were also highlighted by the fifth annual WCC Honors Dinner - which included the presentation of student-athlete academic awards, institutional and individual sportsmanship awards, and culminated with the presentation of the Commissioner's Cup to Brigham Young University. The Honors Dinner was streamed live for the first time on the conference's digital platform, TheW.tv.
The group also approved changes to the West Coast Conference's men's and women's basketball championships beginning in 2015. The format will feature women's opening round games (seeds 7-10) and a pair of women's quarterfinals on Thursday, March 5. The remaining two women's quarterfinals and the men's opening round games will be played on Friday, March 6, and four men's quarterfinal games will take place on Saturday, March 7. The tournament will take Sunday off from competition before resuming Monday, March 9 with a pair of women's semifinal games and two men's semifinals. The two championship games will be played on Tuesday, March 10.
