WCCTV To Preview Each WCC Men's Hoops Team

June 21, 2010

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Coming off of a successful season, West Coast Conference men's basketball teams head into the summer with their sights set even higher for the 2010-11 season.

Starting on Wednesday, June 23rd and continuing for the next seven Wednesdays, WCCTV will preview each WCC men's basketball team with a Summer Report, hosted by Ted Robinson. Teams will be previewed based on geographical location. The previews will begin with the Southern California schools, before moving up the coast to the Bay Area schools, and concluding the Summer Reports in the Pacific Northwest. The complete list of team previews is below.

Guest host Ted Robinson sat down with each coach during their Spring meeting to discuss the past season and what to look for in 2010-11.

The WCC is coming off of a banner year in which half of the league schools advanced to the postseason, including two earning bids to the NCAA Tournament. Gonzaga and Saint Mary's each won a first round game in the NCAA Tournament, with the Gaels advancing to the school's first-ever Sweet Sixteen. The Zags and the Gaels both ended the season ranked in the final ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll, marking the first time in Conference history that the WCC has had two ranked teams at the end of the season.

The WCC was one of only seven conferences that had multiple teams ranked in the final poll. The WCC tied the ACC, the Mountain West, and the SEC for the fourth most teams in the final rankings, edging out the Pac-10, the A-10, the MVC, the Horizon, and the Ivy, which landed one team apiece. The Big East, the Big 12, and the Big Ten tied for first with four teams each.

Loyola Marymount and Portland participated in the second annual Collegeinsider.com Postseason Tournament, marking just the second time in Conference history that four teams advanced to the postseason. The only other time in league history that four teams advanced to the postseason in the same year was in 1989 when LMU and Saint Mary's earned bids to the NCAA Tournament and Santa Clara and Pepperdine went on to play in the National Invitational Tournament (NIT).
