SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- The 2012-13 West Coast Conference season is underway, and conference teams are off to a strong start. On Monday, No. 19 Gonzaga rolled to an 84-50 victory over West Virginia in front of a national television audience on ESPN.

  • BYU and San Diego take part in early season tournaments this week, while Pepperdine battles a pair of Pac-12 opponents.

  • For the second time in its 60-year history of men's basketball (2008), the West Coast Conference had three teams participating in the NCAA Tournament (BYU, Gonzaga, Saint Mary's). The WCC also registered five postseason teams for the second straight year (LMU, USF).

  • Only five Division I teams have won at least 25 games in each of the last five seasons. Three of those teams (BYU, Gonzaga, Saint Mary's) call the WCC home. The other two: Duke, Kansas.

  • Three WCC players have been named to the Wooden Award Preseason Top 50: Gonzaga F Elias Harris, BYU F Brandon Davies, and Saint Mary's G Matthew Dellavedova all made the initial cut.

  • Three WCC players have also been named to the Naismith Trophy list: Gonzaga F Elias Harris, Gonzaga G Kevin Pangos, and Saint Mary's G Matthew Dellavedova are all on the initial watch list for the award, handed out in April.

  • Santa Clara senior Kevin Foster is the season's first West Coast Conference Player of the Week.
