SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- The West Coast Conference has announced its first men's basketball Player of the Week award-winner for the 2011-2012 season.
ASHLEY HAMILTON, RS-JR., F, LOYOLA MARYMOUNT
Loyola Marymount redshirt junior Ashley Hamilton averaged 19 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals while hitting 13-for-26 from the field, 10-for-12 from the free throw line and 2-for-3 from long range over the Lions' first two games. Hamilton matched a career-high with 23 points in LMU's 69-58 road win over No. 17 UCLA. Both of his three-pointers came against the Bruins, just his second and third of his career. He finished the game against the Bruins 8-for-15 from field and 5-for-6 from the charity stripe. In the defensive battle against Sun Belt contender Middle Tennessee State, Hamilton dropped15 points including 5-for-6 from the free throw line, while pulling down six rebounds.
