PORTLAND, Ore. -- Members from both the University of Portland and University of Kentucky men's basketball teams spent an hour visiting with children at Oregon Health Sciences University Doernbecher Children's Hospital on Thursday.
Five players from each team, as well as head coaches Eric Reveno and John Calipari, visited with children on the ninth and tenth floors of the facility. They distributed LIVESTRONG gear from Nike, took pictures with the patients, and signed autographs.
The teams will take the court on Friday at the Rose Garden in the second ever meeting between the two schools. Portland (3-0) is receiving votes in the Associated Press Top 25, while Kentucky is ranked No. 12 in the AP Poll. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and the game will be televised nationally on ESPNU.
