WCC QUICK HITS

  • In the early going, West Coast Conference teams are 3-2 against members of the Pac-12 conference. WCC teams have yet to face any other BCS opponents, but that will change this weekend as Santa Clara takes on Oklahoma or Washington State Friday in the second round of the 76 Classic. On Saturday, Portland plays at Kentucky.

  • WCC teams will earn some frequent flyer miles this week, as they are spread across all four time zones in the continental U.S. In addition, the University of San Francisco is in Anchorage to participate in the Great Alaska Shootout.

  • Only eight Division I teams have won at least 25 games in each of the last four seasons. Three of those teams (BYU, Gonzaga, Saint Mary's) call the West Coast Conference home.

  • Gonzaga's Kevin Pangos is the WCC Player of the Week for November 21. In just his second collegiate game, Pangos drained a school record-tying 9 three-pointers as part of a 33-point effort in GU's victory over Washington State.

  • Ranked 19th in both major weekly polls, Gonzaga was picked by the WCC head coaches to win its 12th straight conference title.

  • The WCC Men's Basketball Tip-Off was a resounding success. Held at YouTube headquarters, each coach appeared on the WCC Live radio show, a live blog chat, and a live video interview streamed on YouTube where fans asked questions via Facebook and Twitter. In all, over 7,000 people participated in the live event.

  • For the second straight season, both Gonzaga and Saint Mary's will participate in the College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon on ESPN. The Bulldogs will get the event underway, hosting Washington State Monday at 9 p.m.That game will be followed by Saint Mary's welcoming Northern Iowa to Moraga at 11 p.m.

  • Seven members of the 2011 All-WCC Team were named to this year's Preseason All-West Coast Conference Team.
