SAN BRUNO, Calif. - The West Coast Conference has named its Men's Basketball Player of the Week for November 24, 2014.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - BRAD WALDOW, SR., C - SAINT MARY'S
Senior center Brad Waldow averaged 23.3 points, 8.7 rebounds and shot .652 from the field in the Gaels' three wins last week over highly-regarded opponents. Waldow tied his career-high with 28 points in a highly-touted matchup against Big West Conference favorite UC Irvine's 7'-6" Mamadou Ndiaye in a 72-69 Saint Mary's win. connected on 6 of 9 free throws, including two with just :17 seconds left, against UC Irvine to give SMC a 70-69 lead ...
Waldow scored a game-high 26 points and went 12-of-14 from the field in a 78-62 win over the University of Denver, which was predicted to finish second in Summit League. The 2014 All-WCC performer registered a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds in an 83-71 win over New Mexico State in a midnight game on ESPN2. The Aggies were picked to win the WAC.
After a big week, Waldow passed four players (Eric Bamberger, Paul Marigney, Maurice Harper and Mickey McConnell) to move into 14th on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,239 points. SMC is 4-0 on the season for the 3rd straight year and extended its home win streak over non-conference opponents to 32 straight, which is tied for the sixth longest in the nation.
