SAN BRUNO, Calif. - The West Coast Conference has named its Men's Basketball Player of the Week for November 25, 2013.
WEST COAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - KEVIN PANGOS, JR., G, GONZAGA
Junior guard Kevin Pangos propelled No. 13 Gonzaga to a 90-74 victory against local rival Washington State in its lone game of the week. Pangos scored 27 points, going 8-for-13 from field including 5-for-8 from 3-point range and connected on all six free throws to improve to 15-for-15 from the line this season.
With the performance, Pangos, who had 3 rebounds, 4 assists, continued his string of big games against the Cougars. The Canadian scored 33 points as a freshman in his first collegiate start, scored the game-winning basket last season in Pullman on length-of-the-court drive and short bank shot in 71-69 win and this year scored 27 points - 20 in the first half to get Gonzaga off to a 16-point halftime lead at 49-33. Pangos is averaging 22.7 points in his three career games against WSU, going 19-for-41 from field for 46.3 percent, 15-for-26 from 3-point range for 57.7 percent and 15-for-17 from line for 82.2 percent.
Gonzaga opens play in the EA Sports Maui Invitational today when it takes on Dayton at 9:00 p.m. (PT) on ESPN2.
