SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- With conference play fast approaching, WCC teams return to the hardwood with some key non-conference match-ups this week.

  • Through the first month of play, West Coast Conference teams are 6-7 against teams from BCS conferences (conference-by-conference breakdown on page two). This week, BYU visits Utah, Gonzaga hosts Michigan State, and Santa Clara visits Washington State.

  • Through December 4, BYU (10th) and Saint Mary's (20th) rank in the top 20 nationally in field goal percentage. Santa Clara is fourth in 3-point field goals per game (10.1), and BYU is ninth in assists per contest (18.4).

  • Only eight Division I teams have won at least 25 games in each of the last four seasons. Three of those teams (BYU, Gonzaga, Saint Mary's) call the West Coast Conference home.

  • BYU's Noah Hartsock is the WCC Player of the Week for December 5. Hartsock averaged 17 points and eight rebounds in leading the Cougars to a pair of neutral site victories.

  • Ranked 22nd in the ESPN/USA Today coaches poll and 23rd in the Associated Press poll, Gonzaga was picked by the WCC head coaches to win its 12th straight conference title.

  • Seven members of the 2011 All-WCC Team were named to this year's Preseason All-West Coast Conference Team.

  • The WCC's weekly web video show, "The Road to Las Vegas," returns to WCCsports.com next month. Also in January, WCC Live, the popular Internet talk show returns. Look for more information coming soon!
