WCC Men's Basketball Leads the Nation in Scoring and 3-Point Field Goal Percentage

WEST COAST CONFERENCE BASKETBALL QUICK HITS

  • Through December 15, WCC teams boast a sparkling .660 winning percentage (62-32) vs. non-conference foes. See page 2 for the breakdown.
  • The WCC is one of just three Division I conferences to own a winning record in true road games (14-12). The others: Big-12 (9-6) and Big-10 (10-9).
  • Gonzaga junior forward Kyle Wiltjer is the #WCChoops Player of the Week. RELEASE
  • Senior guards Johnny Dee (USD) and Tyler Haws (BYU) rank in the top-five among active career scoring leaders. Dee has 1,745 points (4th) and Haws has 2,206 (1st).*
  • Christopher Anderson (USD) is third in active career assists (644). This marks the second straight season a WCC student-athlete has been ranked in the top-five among active leaders in scoring and assists (Anthony Ireland, LMU).
  • Senior guards Johnny Dee (USD) and Kevin Pangos (GON) rank first and second nationally among active 3-point leaders. Dee has 297, Pangos 255. Sophomore guard Jared Brownridge (SCU) is fifth in 3-pointers per game (2.93).*
  • The WCC leads the nation in scoring (74.40 ppg) and 3-point field foal percentage (38.21). The league ranks fourth among Division I leaders in field goal percentage (46.49) and fifth in rebounds (37.10).*
  • BYU’s Tyler Haws and Gonzaga’s Kevin Pangos earned spots on the 2015 Wooden Award top-50 Watch List for the second straight season. Pangos was also named to the Bob Cousy Award, presented to the nation’s top point guard and the Oscar Robertson Award, given to the nation’s top player.
  • BYU’s Tyler Haws became the ninth WCC player to surpass 2,000 career points, accomplishing the feat in the opening round of the EA SPORTS Maui Invitational vs. No. 15 San Diego State (11/24/14). *NCAA stats current as of 12/14/14
