Pepperdine Places Ninth at PING Arizona Intercollegiate

The Pepperdine men's golf team carded a final-round 10-over par 294 on Tuesday to finish with a 54-hole score of 5-over par 857 and place ninth at the 16-team PING Arizona Intercollegiate at the par-71, 6,793-yard Arizona National Golf Club in Tucson, Arizona.

UNLV captured the team title with a 23-under par score of 829 to finish four shots ahead of second-place Brigham Young (833). Host Arizona (840) placed third while Tennessee (841) and UC Irvine (842) rounded out the top five.

Arizona's Brian Prouty claimed individual medalist honors with a 14-under par total 199 to register a four-shot win over New Mexico's Charlie Beljan and East Tennessee State's Seamus Power. Both players totaled 54-hole scores of 10-under par 203.

Pepperdine junior Jesse Barnsley, who entered the final round in second place, shot a closing-round 3-over par 74 to finish at 5-under par 208 and tie for 13th.

Junior Eric Shriver tied for 36th with a 3-over par 216, while freshman Andrew Widmar tied for 41st in his collegiate debut. Widmar finished at 5-over par 218.

Junior Colin Wilcox (219) tied for 45th while freshman Shane Mason (220) tied for 50th.

Pepperdine is next in action on February 18 when it opens play at The Mercedes Benz Collegiate in Jacksonville, Florida.
