Junior Colin Wilcox shot a 1-over par 73 to lead the Pepperdine men's golf team during Monday's second round of the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational that is being played at the par-72, 6,805-yard Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Wilcox is among a group of seven players tied for 15th with 6-over par totals of 150.
Freshman Shane Mason, who shared the first-round lead with UCLA's Kevin Chappell, shot a 4-over 76 and is tied for seventh place at 4-over par 148, seven shots off the lead held by Coastal Carolina's Dustin Johnson.
Johnson carded a 4-under par 68 and is the only player in the field under par with a 3-under par score of 141, three shots in front of Vanderbilt's Jon Curran, who is at even-par 144.
Chappell and Central Florida's Greg Forest are tied for third with 1-over totals of 145 and Vanderbilt's Luke List is fifth at 2-over par 146.
Pepperdine shot a second-day total of 20-over par 308 and is 13th among the 15 teams with a 43-over par total of 619. Alabama, who led after Sunday's opening round, continues to set the pace with an 18-over par score of 594.
The Crimson Tide holds a four-shot lead over Coastal Carolina, which is second with a 22-over par 598 total. Vanderbilt and Central Florida are tied for third at 23-over par 599, while Georgia State rounds out the top five with a 26-over par 602.
