Westlake Village, Calif. -
The 28th-ranked Pepperdine men's golf team is in excellent position to post its best finish of the season as it is currently in second place at the Ashworth Collegiate Invitational that is being played at the par-71, 6,742-yard North Ranch Country Club in nearby Westlake Village.
The Waves were two shots behind leader Washington when play was suspended late Monday afternoon due to rain and water on the course. Pepperdine is 3-over par and was on holes 10-13 of the second round when play was suspended. The Huskies are 1-over par.
The second round is scheduled to resume at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday with the final 18 holes to follow. All the action can be followed live on the Internet at www.golfstat.com.
Led by freshman Adam Porzak, the Waves held the first-round lead with a 1-under par 283, one-shot ahead of Washington. Porzak shot a career-best 3-under par 68 during the opening round and was in first place for most of the day before play was suspended.
Georgia Southern (+5), UCLA (+6) and Brigham Young (+9) round out the Top 5.
Individually, Oklahoma's Anthony Kim, holds a one-shot lead over a group of five players that includes Porzak. Kim is at 3-under while Porzak, Washington's Sterling Clark, Coast Carolina's Zack Byrd, BYU's Clay Ogden and USC's Tyler Ley are 2-under.
