Newport Beach, CA (Feb. 26) - The par-72, 6,876-yard course at Big Canyon Country Club in Newport Beach, Calif., was the main player in the first day of the 2007 Anteater Invitational on Monday. Loyola Marymount posted a two-round 617 to sit in seventh place on a day where the 10-team field managed just five rounds of par or better.

Sophomore Brian Locke is in 12th-place as an individual at seven-over par with a two-round score of 151. He is 10 strokes behind leader Domingo Jojola of San Francisco, who was the only player to hit consecutive rounds of par or better among the 54 players.

As a team the Lions are five strokes behind Cal State Northridge for sixth and five ahead of eighth place Maryland. The final round will play Tuesday with scores expected to be higher with the rain and wind hitting the area throughout the day.

LMU newcomer Blake Nicolai posted a 160 on the day for a tie at 41st while Josh Escobedo is in 51st with a 171.
