Rancho Santa Fe, CA - After 36 holes at the 2007 Callaway Golf Invitational, the Saint Mary's men's golf team is tied for eighth place after rounds of 296-299 for a total of 595 (+19). Josh Kelley paced the Gaels on Monday with rounds of 72 and 71 and is tied for ninth overall with a score of 1-under par at the par-72, 6,920-yard The Farm Golf Club.
Saint Mary's opened the day by shooting a morning round score of 296 (+8), In the morning round, two Gaels, Kelley and Robert McRae posted even-par round of 72. Brett Mormann shot 74 in the first round and Daniel Cone's round of 78 rounded out the top-four scores for the Gaels.
In the second round, Kelley fired a team-low round for the day with a 1-under par round of 71 in the afternoon. Kelley enters Tuesday's final round four shots of the pace of Arkansas' Andrew Landry and UT-Arlington's Bryce Easton who posted scores of 139 (-5) to lead the individual tournament after the first day. Easton led UT-Arlington to the overnight lead as the team posted a score of 581 (+5) to lead San Diego State by one shot, the University of San Diego by four strokes and Cal Poly by five total shots.
Mike McRae rebounded from an opening round 81 to shot 74 (+2) in the afternoon, for a 36-hole total of 155 (+11) and enters the third round tied for 39th place. Mormann followed his morning round 74 with a 75 in the second round and his total of 149 (+5) is currently tied for 28th place in the 81-player field. Robert McRae and Daniel Cone posted rounds of 79 to completed the Gaels' first day scoring.
Hans Olson is playing the Callaway Invitational as an individual and posted rounds of 79 and 82 for a 36-hole score of 161 (+17). Olson is tied for 73rd place overall.
