Pauma Valley, CA (March 12) - Junior Jason D'Amore posted rounds of 66 and 70 in the first day of the USF Triumph at Pauma Valley on Monday to help Loyola Marymount to fifth place in the 16-team field entering the final round on Tuesday at the Pauma Valley Country Club. D'Amore sits at six-under par after the first two rounds.
The Lions put up rounds of 290 and 294 for a two-day total of 584. They are four strokes behind San Diego, who sits in fourth place. Saint Mary's leads the field with a five-over par 573. Wisconsin is one behind with a 574 and Notre Dame rounds out the top three at 577.
D'Amore posted a 66 for the second time in his LMU career, second behind only the 64 he posted as a freshman. It is his best round of the 2006-07 campaign. He is tied with Wisconsin's Pat Duffy at 136. They hold one stroke leads.
Sophomore Brian Locke had a tough first round with a 75 but got back into the top-10 with a 67 in the second. He sits at even heading into the final round with a 142 and in a tie for seventh place.
The final round begins at 7:30 on Tuesday.
