(San Diego, CA) - The host USD Toreros placed 2nd at their 2006 Callaway Golf Invitational presented by The Farms Golf Club. San Diego finished with a team score of 892 and was runner-up to champion San Diego State (880). The Toreros shot a final round 301 after posting a 291 in second round play. Bucky Coe was USD's top finisher placing third overall with a total of 218 (73-72-73). LMU's Jason D'Amore won medalist honors with a 7-under-par 209 (66-7-71). San Diego State's Andrew Scott was runner-up with a two-under-par total of 214 (69-74-71). Rounding out the top five in the team standings was San Jose State and Loyola Marymount in a tie for third (899), followed by Long Beach State and Cal (900). Completing the top-five for individuals was Adam Hagen (4th, 219) and Long Beach State's Ryan Wood (5th, 220).
For USD, Michael Barry turned in a top-10 performance as he finished tied for 10th at 223 (72-73-78). He was followed by Jake Yount (T26 at 227; 80-72-75), Jimmy Harris (T30th at 228; 75-75-78) and Luke Antonelli (T41st at 232; 83-74-75). USD's second team was paced by Brian Phan (40th place at 231; 75-78-78), Luke Gaskins (T57th at 239; 83-80-76), Darrin Hall (T57th at 239; 82-80-77), Preston Lancaster (T65th at 241; 80-80-81), and Garrett Lipus (78th at 249; 80-84-85).
