Golfers In 9th Place After Two Rounds

(Santa Cruz, CA) - The USD golf team moved up one position to 9th place after two rounds of play at the 61st Annual Western Intercollegiate being played at the Pasatiempo Golf Course (par 70; 6,432 yards). In Monday's second round of play the Toreros shot a team score of 288 and find themselves tied with UAB and Kansas at 579. Purdue continues to lead the tourney (562), but is being closely followed by Long Beach State (564) and Fresno State (566). USD's Bucky Coe carded a second round 70 and is tied for 11th overall at 141. Darrin Hall shot a 73 and slipped into a tie for 17th. Brett Lederer of Long Beach State followed up his opening 67 with a 66 and leads all individuals at 133.

Coe and Hall are followed by teammates Mike Barry (T52 at 149; 78-71), Dale Smith (T52 at 149; 73-76) and Joe Panzeri (T71 at 152; 78-74). Rounding out the top-five for all individuals is P Junhasavasdikul of Purdue (134), John Streibich of Xavier (136), Tyler Docking of Kansas (137) and Grant Doverspike of Fresno State (137). The third and final round of play began today at 8:00 am.
