Men's Golf Takes Fourth

Arroyo Grande, CA (Mar. 24) - The Loyola Marymount University men's golf team finished the 2006 Cuesta Title/Cal Poly Intercollegiate in fourth place after posting a 295 in the final round at Cypress Ridge Golf Coure on Friday afternoon. Freshman Brian Locke finished the 79-man field in a two-way tie for third place with a three-under par 213.

The Lions finish the three-round tournament with an 874, just three strokes out of second and two strokes for third. Cal State Bakersfield won the tournament with a 857 and British Columbia, thanks to a 282 in the final round, moved into second with a 871. Western Kentucky finished with an 872.

As for Locke, he posted rounds of 72, 69 and 72 to finish in the top-five for the third time in his first season. Sophomore Jason D'Amore posted a 72 in the third round to finish with a 219 and in a tie for 20th.

Rounding out the Lions' field was freshman Louie Bergna with a 222 (t-32nd), junior Brendan von Doehren with a 225 (t-40th) and sophomore Josh Escobedo at 229 (t-47th). Senior Chaz Inouye finished in a tie for 34th at 223 as an individual.

The Lions will play in the Saint Mary's Invitational on April 10-11 at Poppy Hills Golf Club in Pebble Beach, Calif.
