ARROYO GRANDE, CA - Gonzaga University's men's golf team shot a final-round 298 Friday to move up six spots and finish tied for eighth with the University of Idaho at 902 at the Cuesta Title/Cal Poly Intercollegiate at Cypress Ridge Golf Course.
The Bulldogs had rounds of 296-308-298. Host Cal Poly captured the tourney with an 866 for a 13-stroke win over Loyola Marymount University.
A pair of Bulldogs were in a seven-way logjam for 28th, Brandon Crick and Jimmy Hayes finishing at 225. Crick had a final-round 72 to go with Thursday's rounds of 76-77 while Hayes shot a 76 on Friday to go with round of 70-79. Brian Locke of LMU captured medalist honors at 209 with rounds of 67-73-69 to defeat Greg Doherty of DePaul University by three strokes.
The next action for the Bulldogs will be at the Cowboy Classic in Phoenix, Ariz., April 9-10, their last tune-up prior to the West Coast Conference Championship.
