Tucson, Ariz - The Pepperdine men's golf team shot a final-round 6-over par 294 to total a 54-hole score of 18-over par 882 and finish 14th at the National Invitational Tournament that concluded Tuesday at the par-72, 7,200-yard OMNI Tucson National Invitational Tournament in Tucson, Arizona.
Arizona State captured the 15-team tournament with a 24-under par score of 840 to register an eight-shot victory over UCLA, which finished second at 16-under par 848. Host Arizona and Tulsa tied for third at 12-under par 852 while Texas A&M (855) rounded out the top five.
Arizona State's Niklas Lemke claimed individual medalist honors with a 9-under par score of 207 to finish one shot ahead of teammate Benjamin Alvarado and Ryan Henry of Tulsa. Both players carded scores of 8-under par 208.
Pepperdine junior Jesse Barnsley had the top showing for the Waves as he tied for 29th with a 2-over par score of 218. After shooting 74-75 on Monday, Barnsley carded a final-round 3-under par 69 to move up 24 spots in the standings.
Pepperdine is next in action on April 16 when it competes at the West Coast Conference (WCC) Championships at the La Purisima Golf Course in Lompoc, California.
