No. 20 Pepperdine Finishes 17th at Morris Williams Intercollegiate

The 20th-ranked Pepperdine men's golf team shot a final-round 18-over par 306 to finish with a 43-over par score of 907 and place 17th at the 18-team Morris Williams Intercollegiate that concluded Tuesday at the par-72, 6,906-yard Austin Country Club in Austin, Texas.

Second-ranked Oklahoma State captured the team title with a 14-under par total of 850 to register a nine-shot victory over Texas Tech. The Red Raiders finished with a 5-under par score of 859. Seventh-ranked Brigham Young (863) placed third while host Texas (864) finished fourth and Oklahoma (868) fifth.

BYU's Oscar Alvarez claimed individual medalist honors with a 7-under par score of 209 to register a three-shot victory over Oscar Floren of Texas Tech and Oklahoma State teammates Trent Leon and Jonathan Moore. All three players finished with a 4-under par score of 212.

Senior Alex Coe was the top finisher for Pepperdine, tying for 36th with a 5-over par score of 221.

Junior J.J. Wood (223) tied for 47th while sophomore Michael Baird (231) tied for 78th, freshman Adam Porzak (232) tied for 83rd and sophomore Jesse Barnsley (236) tied for 89th.

Pepperdine is next in action on April 17 when it travels to Copperopolis, California to compete in the West Coast Conference (WCC) Championships.
