Mike McRae Tied For 30th After 36 Holes at NCAA Regionals

Tempe, AZ - Mike McRae posted a second round score of 3-under par 69 at the 2007 NCAA Western Regional on Friday morning at the ASU Karsten Golf Course. McRae posted four birdies and one bogey at the par-72, 7,057-yard course. With his 70 on Thursday, McRae is now 5-under for the tournament.

After posting an opening round score of 70 (-2), McRae had a consistent round on Friday, shooting 1-under on the opening nine holes, before shooting a back-nine score of 2-under par 35. McRae opened the round with five straight pars, before a birdie two at the 209-yard par three sixth hole. He closed the opening nine with three more pars before the turn.

McRae opened the back-nine with back-to-back birdies on the 548-yard par five 10th and 410-yard par four 11th holes. Pars on 12 and 13 were followed by his fourth and final birdie of the day at the par-5 15th hole. After pars on 15, 16, and 17, McRae closed the round with a bogey on the par-4, 471-yard 18th hole.

McRae will enter Saturday's final round tied for 30th overall, and at five under for the tournament, he is seven shots off the pace set by Arizona State's Benjamin Alvarado and USC's Jamie Lovemark. McRae will begin his final round on Saturday at 8:23 on the 10th hole.

To advance to the NCAA Championships, McRae will have to finish as one of the top two individuals not on a team that advances to the championship rounds.
