(Corvallis, Oregon) - USF men's golf had a strong showing during the first day of the 2006 Northwest Collegiate Classic, hosted by Oregon State. The Dons currently share second place at 587 (296, 291) with the host Beavers after 36 holes at the Trysting Tree Golf Club.
Senior Taylor Hobin and teammate sophomore Domingo Jojola both share 10th place at 145. Hobin posted the lowest score for the Green and Gold in the first round, firing an even-par 72 and finishing off the day with a one-over 73 in the second round. After carding a 76 in the first round, Jojola came back in the second round to card a three-under 69, the best single round score for the Dons.
After carding a one-under 71 in the second round, junior Kenny Adams is USF's next best finisher at 147 (76, 71), good for a share of 17th place.
Oregon holds the lead at 576 (288, 288) and Long Beach State, UC Irvine, and St. Mary's all share fourth place (589), only two strokes behind San Francisco and Oregon State. Playing as an individual, Washington's Zach Bixler holds first place at 139 (69, 70).
