(South Bend, IN) - The USD men's golf team shot the best team score (277)in the final round of the 2007 Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic being held at the Warren Golf Club in South Bend, Indiana. Darrin Hall (68) and Jake Yount (69) led the way as the Toreros moved up two places to finish in a tie for 8th at 882 (307-298-277) in the twelve team event. Michigan State held on for the team title with a score of 847 as they were led by medalist winner Ryan Brehm (205; -5 under par). USD's Mike Barry finished just outside the top ten as he tied for 11th with a total of 216 (76-70-70). Blake Trimble (70) and Jason Shano (74) also closed with solid outings.
Barry was followed by Hall (t-29th at 220; 76-76-68) and Yount (t-29th at 220; 77-74-69), Blake Trimble (t-50th at 226; 78-78-70) and freshman Jason Shano (t-59th at 233; 78-81-74). The Toreros next event will be at the Nevada Wolf Pack Invitational (Oct. 8-9).
