Golf Tied For Ninth At Mackenzie Invitational

Fairfax, CA - The Saint Mary's men's golf team will enter the final round of the Alister Mackenzie Invitational in tied for ninth place out of 16 teams. The Gaels shot rounds of 272-283 for a 36-hole total of 555 (-13) behind stellar play of sophomore Robert McRae. Both Robert and Michael McRae shoot career low rounds on Monday.

McRae posted rounds of 65 and 69 at the par -71, 6,686-yard Meadow Club on Monday, and is tied for seventh place after day one. McRae shot a career-best 65 (-6) in the first round, making an eagle, five birdies and a bogey. In the second round, McRae had four birdies with two bogeys. McRae enters Tuesday's final round six shots off the pace after shooting 8-under par on Monday.

Michael McRae opened the day with a career-low round of 65 (-6) as well, making seven birdies to just one bogey in the morning. In the second round, McRae shot even par (71) with four birdes, two bogeys and a double bogey. McRae enters Tuesday's final round tied for 15th overall, and eight shots off the pace of individual leader Daryl Fathauer of Louisville.

Senior Chadd Cocco posted back-to-back rounds of even-par 71 and is tied for 41st overall. Cocco made a total of 10 birdies in the opening two rounds, but eight bogeys and a double kept him out of red numbers.

Daniel Cone had rounds of 71 and 72 for a 1-over par day. Cone finished the 36-hole mark tied for 49th place. Cone has four birdies and four bogeys in the morning, and followed that with two birdies, a bogey and a double in the afternoon round. Josh Kelley completed the Gaels' play on Monday with rounds of 74 and 73 for a 36-hole total of 147 (+5).

Washington holds the lead by seven shots over Louisville with a 36-hole total of 541 (-27) following an 11-under par round of 60 by Zach Bixler in the afternoon round. Louisvelle and UC Davis are tied for second at 20-under par and Oregon State is fourth at -19.

Saint Mary's will complete the Alister Mackenzie Invitation on Tuesday.
