Edmond, Okla. -- The Santa Clara men's golf team bounced back from a tough first two rounds to finish in seventh place at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate. The Broncos were in tenth place coming into the final round and three of the four scorers turned in their best round of the tournament to move them up three spots to seventh.
Conditions continued to be tricky in Oklahoma and no golfer finished under par for the tournament. Santa Clara battled the obstacles nicely en route to shooting the third best team score of the final round.
Jonathan Keane led the team the entire way and finished off his tournament with a three over 74. That gave him a three round total of +13 which earned him a tie for 12th place.
Scott Travers scored a final round 74, just one shot over the team best 73 that he shot yesterday. Travers ended up tied for 18th with a final score of +15.
Jimmy Cacho played much better today, shooting a third round 75 to finish at +21 for the tournament. Cacho's 75 was four shots better than his round yesterday and helped him to a 32nd finish.
Tyler Ichikawa rounded out the scoring for the Broncos. Ichikawa shot a 79 today, his best of the tournament and was a critical part of the team's move to seventh place. He finished with a +29 for the tournament and tied for 46th place.
Blair Myers was the final Santa Clara golfer at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate. Myers tied his best round of the tournament with an 84 today and finished in 59th place with a final score of +41.
The Broncos' next event will the Santa Clara Invitational at Silver Creek where they will be hosting. The first two rounds will be all day Monday, October 22 and the third and final round will be Tuesday, October 23 in the morning.
