Men's Golf Takes Third

Simi Valley, CA (Oct. 16) - The Loyola Marymont men's golf team finished the 2007 Bill Cullum Invitational in third place out of 15 teams with a three-round total of 886. Junior tansfer Bryan Martin led the Lions in a tie for ninth place as a individual at Wood Ranch Golf Course on Tuesday afternoon.

The Lions posted a final round 301 to finished five strokes behind Portland, who finished with an 881 and in second place. UC Santa Barbara won the tournament with a final score of 870. The Lions finished one stroke better than Southern Utah (887) and five better than Gonzaga (891).

As for Martin, he posted a final round of 75 for a score of 219. Junior Brian Locke was one stroke behind with a 220, as he led the Lions with a 74 in the final round. Freshman John Lim was two strokes behind with a 222. It was Lim's second straight top-20 finish as he finished in a tie for 14th in the 90-man field.

Rounding out the Lions top five was senior Jason D'Amore in a tie for 30th with a 226 and junior Greg Moss in a tie for 66th with a 236.

Sophomore Blake Nicolai played as an individual and finished in a tie for 72nd with a score of 238.

The Lions will be back in action next weekend with they play in the Pepperdine Club Glove Invitational on Oct. 22 and 23.
