Toreros In 3rd Place at Barona Collegiate Cup

(Lakeside, CA) - The USD Torero golf team moved into 3rd place after two rounds of play at the Barona Collegiate Cup, being played at Barona's par-72/7,323 yard layout. The tournament, with 18 teams in the field, will conclude on Tuesday morning. The Toreros shot team scores of 279-284 and their two-round total of 563 trails just Wichita State (555) and UAB (61). USD's Jake Yount fired a tournament low 63 in the first round and finds himself in 5th place at 137. Nevada's Taylor Coffman (67-67) and Zack Sucher of UAB (65-69) are tied for the lead at 134.

Colorado State and San Diego State (565) round out the top 5, while SDSU's Aaron Goldberg (66-69) and Colorado State's Zen Brown (68-68) are third and fourth, respectively. Folllowing USD's Yount include Darrin Hall (T13 at 141; 70-71), Bucky Coe (T29 at 144; 77-67), Brian Phan (T29 at 144; 69-75) and Dale Smith (T62 at 149; 77-72). Joe Panzeri, playing as an individual, is tied for 44th (71-75).
