(Lakeside, CA) - The USD Torero golf team turned in a solid performance at this week's Barona Collegiate Cup by placing 4th out of 18 teams over the two-day tournament. USD shot a final team score of 286 today to finish at 849. UAB won the team event at 840, and was followed by Wichita State (844) and Colorado State (845). San Diego State rounded out the top five with a 5th place finish at 853. USD's Jake Yount finished in a tie for 6th with a three-round score of 210 (63-74-73). His first round 63 that he carded was the low round of the tournament. UAB's Zack Sucher won medalist honors by edging out Nevada's Taylor Coffman in a playoff. Both player finished at 203. Colorado State's Zen Brown finished third (205) and was followed by Denver's Charlie Soule and Wichita State's Cameron Bishop, each coming in at 209.
Torero Bucky Coe carded back-to-back 67's in the final two rounds to finish in a tie for 10th at 211, just one stroke back of Yount. Coe was followed by Darrin Hall (T31 at 217; 70-71-76), Brian Phan (T35 at 218; 69-75-74) and Dale Smith (T49 at 221; 77-72-72). USD's Joe Panzeri was the low finisher out of ten individuals, coming in tied for 31st at 217 (71-75-71).
