Men's Golf Rounds Out Hawaii Fall Intercollegiate With 7th Place Finish

Oahu, HI - The Saint Mary's men's golf team posted a final round score of 301 to finish the Hawaii Fall Intercollegiate with a score of 883 (+19) to posted a seventh place finish in the 16-team field. The Gaels posted rounds of 294-288-301 for a final score of 883 (+19) at the par 72, 6,528-yard Kaneohe Klipper Golf Club.

Heading into the final round, the Gaels were tied with San Diego State for third place with a score of 582 (+6), just eight strokes off the pace of Loyola Marymount 2-under score of 574. The Gaels battled tough conditions on Wednesday to post a score of 301 (+13) and drop to seventh place and tied with the College of Charleston. LMU finished the 54-hole event with a score of even-par 864 to post a five-shot win over New Mexico State and the University of San Diego.

For the Gaels, Mike McRae posted his fourth top-10 individual finish of the fall season. McRae posted back-to-back even par rounds of 72 on Monday and Tuesday and finished the event with a 73 on Wednesday for a final total of 217 (+1). Freshman Daniel Cone played consistent for Saint Mary's with rounds of 74, 72, and 73 for a three-day total of 219 (+3) for his best collegiate finish. Cone posted his first top-20 result with a 12th place individual finish.

Josh Kelley, who opened the final round in a tie for fifth place, dropped to 19th place overall following a third round score of 79 (+7). Kelley was 2-under after 36 holes, but following his 7-over round on Wednesday he finished the tournament at 221 (+5).

Robert McRae posted a 47th place finish after shooting a 4-over par 76 on Wednesday. The 76 followed rounds of 79 and 71 for a total of 226 (+10). Brett Mormann rounded out SMC's play with a final-round 79 to finish the event in 66th place with a 231 (+15) total.

The Hawaii Fall Intercollegiate completes SMC's fall schedule. The Gaels will return to the course for their first spring event on February 26-27 at the Anteater Invitational, hosted by UC Irvine from the Big Canyon Country Club in Newport Beach, CA.
