SAN BRUNO, Calif. - After capturing its inaugural West Coast Conference Championship last season, BYU was picked to defend its crown in a poll of the league coaches. The Cougars captured 56 points and three first-place votes in close balloting.

BYU placed a pair on the preseason All-WCC team, led by 2014 All-WCC First Team selections junior Joe Parkinson, and senior Jordan Rodgers.

For the second straight season, San Diego checked in at second place on the survey with 54 points, including five first place votes. The Toreros will look to senior Grant Forrest, the 2014 WCC Player of the Year. Forrest is the top-rated player in the WCC checking in at No. 67 in the current Golfweek/Sagarin performance rankings and owns a 2-3-2 record against top-25 individuals this season.

Pepperdine and Saint Mary's shared third place with 41 votes apiece. The Waves placed junior Frederick Wedel on the preseason squad, while junior Jonathan De Los Reyes represented the Gaels.

Pacific collected 38 votes, including the remaining first place vote, good for the fifth spot on the survey. Senior Byron Meth represents the Tigers on the preseason team. Meth, the 2014 U.S. Pub Links Champion, won medalist honors at the 2014 WCC Championship.

Santa Clara was picked sixth with 32 points, just in front of longtime rival San Francisco (30). The Broncos will rely on junior Gio Gandionco, while the Dons will count on a pair of preseason team selections: senior Jobim Carlos and junior Seb Crookall-Nixon.

Gonzaga and Loyola Marymount rounded out the poll with each team gathering 16 points. Bulldog junior Sean Walsh was tabbed for the preseason team.

The 2015 West Coast Conference Golf Championships will be held at Saticoy Country Club. The tournament runs April 13-15.  DETAILS
