Feb. 22, 2007

After close finishes in recent competitions, the men's golf team is hoping to have a breakout team performance next Monday and Tuesday at the Anteater Invitation, which will be played at Big Canyon Country Club. Competing against the Dons will be WCC foes Loyola Marymount, Portland, Santa Clara, and St. Mary's, along with Maryland, Northridge, UC Riverside, Arizona and UC Irvine, who will be hosting the event.

Head coach Gary Nelson is looking for breakout performances from sophomores Jesse Galvon and Domingo Jojola, along with freshman Chris Cunningham. The team will also be joined by sophomore Edward Han who will be playing in his first collegiate tournament after walking onto the team last season.

Leading the Dons will be sophomore Kurt Nino and junior Moses Kahalekulu, who are "playing exceptional golf this spring," according to Coach Nelson.

"After finishing second in four of our last seven events," said Nelson. "We are looking to bust the hump and come away with a win."
