SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- After posting two first-place tournament finishes in February, Loyola Marymount junior Tyler Torano is the West Coast Conference Golfer of the Month for February.

Loyola Marymount junior Tyler Torano is the WCC Golfer of the Month for February. Torano had a record-setting February, posting a pair of first place finishes in back-to-back months, including the outright title at the Del Walker Intercollegiate to close the month on Feb. 26. He is just the second Lion to do it, joining Brian Locke who did it in 2006-07.
Torano closed the month with five straight rounds of par or better, claiming a two-under 214 to finish first at the Folino Men's Invitational on Feb. 19 and a seven-under 203 at the Del Walker. He shot a second round 67 to set a career-record on Feb. 18 and then in the first round at the Del Walker, set another career-record with an opening round 66 on Feb. 25. He closed the Folino with an even-par 72 and closed the Del Walker with a par-70 and then a three-under 67 to claim the Del Walker title by four strokes.
He finished the month hitting averaging an even 72.0 through nine rounds of golf. He leads the Lions with a 72.3 stroke average on the season and has a winning percentage of 82.6 percent (currently an LMU record since the stat began to be tracked).
