Toreros Host 2006 Callaway Golf Invitational presented by The Farms Golf Club

(San Diego, CA) - The USD men's golf team, under the direction of third year head coach Tim Mickelson, will play host to the 2006 Callaway Golf Invitational presented by The Farms Golf Club, this coming Monday and Tuesday. The 15-team field will tee off beginning on Monday morning at 8:00 a.m. with a shotgun start. Thirty-six holes will be scheduled for Monday, with the final 18 holes slated for Tuesday morning beginning at 7:30 am. USD will be joined by Cal, Colorado State, Hawaii, Long Beach State, Nevada, Oregon State, San Diego State, San Jose State, Saint Mary's, UC Davis, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara and Utah.

The Farms Golf Club is located in Rancho Santa Fe and is one of the top courses in San Diego. The par-72 layout plays to 6,911 yards with a 73.9 rating and 143 slope. The Farms Golf Club was originally built in 1988 by Pete Dye and later remodeled in 2000 by the team of John Fought and Tom Lehman. The private facility is located in the ruggedly beautiful terrain of Rancho Santa Fe, one of San Diego's most prestigious communities.

The USD Toreros are coming off a 3rd place finish at UC Riverside's Braveheart Classic. Senior Jimmy Harris and freshman Michael Barry each tied for 9th with a three-round total of 220.

First day results will be posted on USD's website Monday evening after the completion of play, as will final results come Tuesday afternoon.
