WCC TEAM NOTES

SCHOOL TEAM NOTES

  • The Gonzaga men's golf team placed 14th last weekend at the Bandon Dunes Championship in Bandon Dunes, Ore. The Bulldogs posted their second straight 317 in Saturday's final round to finish at 946 after opening with rounds of 312-317 Friday.

  • Sophomore Travis Johnsen and freshman Peter Gullickson each shot final round 78's over the 6,798-yard, par 72 Bandon Dunes Course layout to pace the Bulldogs.

  • The Bulldogs' women's golf team shot a final-round 324 to finish 17th at 960 at the 26th annual Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational at the Kane'ohe Klipper Golf Course.

  • The Gonzaga women's team will be at the Mountain View Collegiate in Tucson, Ariz. on March 25th and 26th, while the men will take part in the Wyoming Cowboy Classic on April 4th and 5th in Scottsdale, Ariz.
  • Loyola Marymount finished fifth as a team at the Folino Invitational hosted by Cal State Fullerton on March 21st and 22nd. Junior JakeSarnoff completed three rounds with back to back scores of -1 under par in rounds one and two and shot +1 in the third.

  • Senior John Lim continuously improved in each round putting up a line of 77 in the first round, 72 in the second, and 69 in the third at the Folino Invitational.

  • The Lions finished 10th with a three-round total of 930 at the Bandon Dunes Championship in Bandon Dunes, Ore. on March 11th and 12th. Sarnoff led the way for the Lions in a tie for 35th in the 91-player tournament.

  • The Lions will complete the month of March at the Barona Collegiate Cup hosted by San Diego State at Barona Creek Golf Course, March 24-25.
  • The Pepperdine men's golf team finished seventh as a team at the the Oregon Duck Invitational on March 21st and 22nd. Junior Josh Anderson had his second below-par round of the event with a 2-under 70 on Tuesday.

  • Senior Andrew Putnam turned in a third-place finish at the General Hackler Championship on March 13th and 14th thanks to a 2-under 70 during Monday's third and final round. As a team, the Waves took fifth place.

  • The 17th-ranked Pepperdine women's golf team finished in a tie for eighth place at the Battle at the Rancho Bernardo Inn on Monday and Tuesday. The Waves shot 20-under over three rounds to win the UNLV Spring Invitational by 14 strokes on March 7th through 9th.

  • The men's golf team will play at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate in Austin, Texas, on April 4-5, while the women will wrap up their regular season at the PING/ASU Invitational on April 1-3.


  • Senior Jake Wagner fired a four-under par 68 during the second round en route to a top-20 finish at the Oregon Duck Invitational, which concluded on Tuesday at the Eugene Country Club.

  • Wagner also led the Pilots at the Triumph at Pauma Valley on March 14th and 15th. Wagner closed with a four-over par 75 on Tuesday, which allowed him to move up to 14th overall.

  • Freshman Sara Banke carded three rounds in the 70's to pace the Pilots at the Lumberjack Shootout, which wrapped-up last Wednesday at Wigwam Country Club. UP finished in 14th place at the three-day, three-round event.

  • The men's golf team will take part in the UC Riverside Braveheart Classic on April 11th and 12th in Beaumont, Calif., while the women will conclude their season at the WCCChampionships on April 18th and 19th in Hollister, Calif.
  • The Saint Mary's men's golf team finished seventh among 15 teams after shooting a three-over par 291 in the final round of the 2011 Desert Shootout at Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz. on March 17th through the 19th.

  • The Gaels ended the tournament with a 16-under par 848. Saint Mary's was led by sophomore Mac McClung's tie for 17th-place in the medalist race. McClung shot a final round of two-under 70 to give him a three-round total of five-under par 211.

  • Senior Henrik Holm and sophomore Ben Geyer tied for 19th place. Holm shot a final round three-over par 75 to join Geyer with a four-under par 212. Geyer shot a one-over par 73 today after posting rounds of 67 and 72 the first two days.

  • The Gaels return to the course on Thursday at the Barona Collegiate Cup in Lakeside, Calif.
  • The 21st-ranked San Diego Toreros shot a final round team score of 375 to finish at 1,110 (+30) to take fourth place at the 2011 San Diego Intercollegiate on March 14th and 15th.

  • Senior Jason Shano shot a final round 69 to finish in a tie for 5th at 1-over par 217 (75-73-69). Junior Alex Ching, the two round leader, shot a final round 79 to finish tied for 7th at 218.

  • USD freshman Manav Shah, playing as an individual, also tied for 7th overall as he shot three solid rounds of 73-73-72. Rounding out the USD scoring was Scott Brace (T14 at 221; 76-72-73), Ben Murray (T39 at 229; 73-73-83), Gunner Wiebe (T43 at 231; 76-79-76) and Leon Knoll (T46 at 232; 76-78-78).

  • The Toreros will compete in the 2011 Barona Collegiate Cup. The 54-hole tournament will be played at Barona Creek Golf Club (par 72, yardage 7,374) in Lakeside on Thursday and Friday.
  • San Francisco shot its lowest round of the event with a five-over 293 and finished 10th at the 2011 Oregon Duck Invitational Tuesday at the Eugene Country Club.

  • Junior Ji Hwan Park won his third career event on Tuesday, March 15th with a 5-under 66 in the final round of the 2011 Triumph at Pauma Valley, finishing at 3-under 210 (73, 71, 66) at the Pauma Valley Country Club.

  • Sophomore Katrina Hegge capped a career tournament with her first collegiate medalist honor Tuesday, March 8th at the 2011 Fresno State Lexus Classic, shooting an even-par 216 (73, 72, 71).

  • The USF men's golf team returns to action on April 4th and 5th at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic in Scottsdale, Ariz. The women's golf team will compete in the 2011 Anteater Invitational withtournament play beginning Monday, March 28th at the Dove Canyon Country Club.
  • The Santa Clara men's golf team placed 12th at the Oregon Duck Invitational in Eugene on Monday and Tuesday. Freshman Bobby Monaco shot finals round of 72 and 73 to finish 37th overall.

  • The men's golf team claimed the team title at the 15th Annual Del Walker Intercollegiate Golf Classic on March 7th and 8th. Sophomore Rick Lamb played the final 10 holes 3-under par to place second overall.

  • The Broncos' women's golf team tied for fifth in a 16-team field at the Fresno State Lexus Classic at Copper River Country Club on March 7th and 8th. Senior Miki Ueoka placed third individually among 84 players. Ueoka posted rounds of 69-77-75 to finish 5-over par.

  • The men's golf team will play at the Barona Collegiate Cup at Barona Creek Golf Course on March 24th and 25th. The women's team will take part in the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic in Chandler, Ariz. on April 4th and 5th..
  • 2010-2011 marks the first season that Seattle is an affiliate member in the sport of women's golf as announced by the West Coast Conference in August 2010.

  • The Seattle women's golf team finished 10th at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational hosted by the University of Hawaii at the Kane'ohe Klipper Golf Course on March 14th and 15th. Sophomore Shannon Quinn shot 80 (+8) in the final round to stay in the top 20 of the individual standings, finishing in a tie for 19th place with a final score of 230 (+14) in Hawaii.

  • The Redhawks turned in a 12th place finish at the Fresno State Lexus Classic at the Copper River Country Club on March 7th and 8th. Sophomore Christine Cook shot Seattle U's best round of the tournament, playing the course in one-over-par 73 to move into a tie for 24th place with a final score of 233 (+17).

  • Seattle will travel to Arroyo Grande, Calif. for the Cal Poly Lamkin Grip Match Play Challenge on Thursday and Friday..
