West Coast Conference men's golf teams prepare for WCC Championship next week

SAN BRUNO, CA -- The 2013 WCC Men's Golf Championship will take place at the Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash. from Monday, April 15th to April 17th. All eight WCC golf squads will wrap up regular-season play this week in prep for the tournament.

  • BYU senior Zac Blair is the WCC Golfer of the Month for March. Blair posted three top-five finishes last month,including a victory at the Desert Shootout in Goodyear, Ariz. He is currently ranked No. 17 by Golfstat.

  • Gonzaga won its first tournament of the spring by posting a final-round 275 at the University of Wyoming CowboyClassic on April 9th. Junior Peter Gullickson and freshman Sean Walshc each posted a career-low 67 (-3).

  • Loyola Marymount freshman Connor Campbell ended his regular season with a title at the Anteater Invitational at El Niguel Country Club on March 26th. Campbell posted a final round of 71 (-1) to claim the tournament title.

  • Pepperdine rounded out its spring season with an 11th-place finish at the Arizona State Thunderbird Invitational on April 7th. Freshman Frederick Wadel paced the Waves with a 2-over 215 (70-74-71), good for a 23rd-place finish.

  • Saint Mary's senior Mac McClung shot a career-low 65 and tied teammate sophomore Jonathan De Los Reyes for runner-up at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic. The Gaels finished third as a team and are currently ranked No. 35 by Golfstat.

  • In its final tuneup of the spring, San Diego placed third overall at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational. As a team, the Toreros shot a five-under par total of 847 (289-275-283). USD sophomore Grant Forrest placed fourth with a seven-under par 206 (68-68-70).

  • San Francisco senior Taylor Travis, junior Cory McElyea and freshman Sebastian Crookall-Nixon each earned top-10 finishes at the U.S. Intercollegiate at Stanford on March 30th. As a team, USF finished fourth.

  • Santa Clara freshman Gio Gandionco earned his second top-20 finish of the year by shooting a one-over par 71 in the final round of the Wyoming Cowboy Classic, good for a 17th-place tie.
