BREMERTON, Wash. --After the first round on day one of the 2013 West Coast Conference Golf Championships, the Saint Mary's men's team and the Pepperdine women's team sit atop the leaderboards at the Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Washington.

On a cool, sunny day with a 33-degree temperature at tee-time, the Saint Mary's men shot a team score of 288 to take a three-stroke lead over second-place BYU on day one of the tournament. There is a three-way tie atop the men's leaderboard, with BYU's Joe Parkinson, Santa Clara's Scott Lowe and 2012 WCC individual champion Ben Geyer all checking in with a first round score of 70.

On the women's side, the Waves built a five-shot lead over Gonzaga, with a team total of 293. Pepperdine posted three out of the four top-scoring individuals. Junior Grace Na turned in a two-under 70 to pace the Waves. Freshman Marissa Chow shot an even-72 to place second thus far, while her teammate, sophomore Alina Ching, checks in at fourth with a plus one-73. Gonzaga freshman Raychelle Santos kept pace with Na, shooting a 71 (-1) to finish second on the first day of play, just one shot behind the Pepperdine junior.
