Chadd Cocco Makes NCAA Tournament Field As Individual

Moraga, CA - Saint Mary's men's golfer Chadd Cocco was selected to compete in the 2006 NCAA Men's Golf Championship as an individual. Cocco will compete as one over six individuals selected for the West Regional that will take place at the Omni Tucson National Golf Club on Thursday-Saturday, May 18-20.

During his junior season, Cocco posted a 72.6 stroke average over 29 rounds and 10 events. His 72.6 stroke average has him ranked 80th in the country. Cocco posted a top-20 finish in every tournament this season, had seven top-10 finishes and took home medalist honors at the 2005 Mid-Pines Intercollegiate in September.

Cocco's shot 206 (-10) at the Mid Pines Intercollegiate was he lowest score of the year. Out of 29 total rounds, Cocco posted six rounds in the 60s, which included a career-low round of 66 in the second round of the Mid Pines Intercollegiate, and 15 rounds of par or better.

With Cocco's selection to the 2006 NCAA Championship, the Saint Mary's golf team has been represented in the last three NCAA Championships. Joe Lanza was selected as an individual in 2004 and the SMC golf team earned an at large berth into the 2005 NCAA Western Regional.
