Saint Mary's men's golf advances to NCAA Championships

SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- The Saint Mary's men's golf team shot a 54-hole total of 842 (-22) at the NCAA Regional and advanced to the NCAA Championships for the second time in program history.

The Gaels finished third overall and were paced by senior Mac McClung, who finished fourth in the regional. Sophomore Jonathan De Los Reyes finished tied for sixth.

BYU, also playing in the Pullman Regional with Saint Mary's, finished in eighth place. The Cougars finished three strokes away from advancing to the NCAA Championships.

Competing as an individual in the Tempe Regional, Loyola Marymount's Tyler Torano tied for 30th out of 75 golfers. Torano shot a plus two-212 for the weekend.

San Diego finished 12th at the NCAA Regional in Tallahassee. The Toreros were paced by Alex Chiarella with a four-over 220.

San Francisco, one of five WCC institutions represented in the NCAA Regionals, finished 11th at the Columbus Regional. The Dons finished 14 strokes shy of the fifth spot needed to advance to the NCAA Championships.

The NCAA Championships will take place May 28th to June 2nd at the Capital Club Crabapple Course in Milton, Ga.
