Third Round Of NCAA Men's Golf Championships Suspended Due To Sever Weather

WEST LAFAYETTE, IN - Severe weather in West Lafayette, Ind., resulted in the evacuation of the golf course and suspension of the third round of the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships. Play was suspended for the day at 5:55 p.m., which was the second weather delay of the day.

All teams and individuals who were unable to complete the third round will do so with a 7 a.m. shotgun start on Saturday. All ties will be determined immediately following and the top 15 teams that advance to the fourth round, will begin with revised tee times beginning at 11 a.m.

Saint Mary's had all five players on the course when the 15 teams and six individuals were evacuated from the Kampen Course at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex. The teams were moved to Mackey Arena where they remained until the tornado-producing storm passed through West Lafayette.

When play was halted, Saint Mary's had completed nine of the 18 holes in the third round. Mike McRae will resume play on the 12th tee, after completing 11 holes at 1-over par. Daniel Cone will play from the 11th fairway and will look to improve on a round where he was 5-over par through 10 holes.

Josh Kelley was waiting to hit his tee shot on the 11th hole and was at 3-over par through 10. Robert McRae will resume play from the fairway on 10 and is 4-over par through nine holes. Chadd Cocco just completed the ninth hole at 1-over par.

Pepperdine's Eric Shriver's (Cary, N.C./Arkansas/Green Hope HS) round was suspended after he finished up the front nine, shooting a six-over 42. Shriver's nine completed holes included two bogeys and two double bogeys. Shriver and the rest of the field will complete the third round will resume the third round with a 7 a.m. shotgun start.
