Toyota City, Japan - Incoming Pepperdine recruit Andrew Putnam placed eighth while helping Team USA tie for seventh place at the 2007 Toyota Junior Golf World Cup that concluded Friday at the par-71 Chukyo Golf Club in Toyota City, Japan. The 14-team event is held annually and played similarly to the Ryder Cup and President's Cup.

Each country selects four of its best junior golfers to compete in the four-day event.

Putnam carded rounds of 72-71-65-70 for a 5-under par total of 279 to finish nine shots behind Norway's Andrea Kristiansen, who concluded play at 14-under par 270.

Putnam, a resident of University Place, Wash., and the younger brother of former Pepperdine All-American Michael Putnam will bring an impressive resume with him to Malibu this fall. His list of credentials includes 2006 Washington and Pacific Northwest Player of the Year and second team American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Rolex All-American. He won the 2006 AJBA Pacific Northwest and was a semi-finalist at the 2006 U.S. Junior Amateur.
