July 5, 2006

SEATTLE, Wash. - Gonzaga University golfers Trevor Loe and Michael Hansen struggled on the final day of the 72nd annual Seattle Amateur Championship.

Loe, who plays out of Sahalee in Seattle and was tied for sixth after 36 holes, skied to a final-round 79 to give him a 219 and a six-way tie for 21st after rounds of 71-69-79. Hansen, a member of Harbour Point in his hometown of Mill Creek, Wash., shot a final-round 78 for a 222 and a tie for 34th after rounds of 74-70-78.

Tuesday's final round was played at West Seattle Golf Course, while Sunday's opening round was at Jackson Golf Course and Monday's round was held at Jefferson Golf Course.

"They didn't finish as well as they would have liked after the position they were in after 36 holes, but this is still a great experience. They will still learn something from the entire tournament that will hope them with their collegiate performance this fall," Gonzaga head coach Robert Gray said.
