Los Angeles, CA (July 5) - Loyola Marymount University men's golf earned three commitments for the 2007-08 season. John (Jong Yeop) Lim (South Torrance High School), Bryan Martin (Moorpark College) and Greg Moss (College of the Canyons) will enter their first season as a Lion in August, announced LMU Head Coach Alex Galvan on Thursday.
All three incoming players come from established Southern California High Schools, with Martin and Moss earning additional experience at a pair of California junior colleges.
"We are excited to have these three student-athletes join our program this fall," said Galvan, who led the Lions to their first West Coast Conference Championship in 2006. "All three newcomers will give us great depth and will be key pieces to making a run at postseason success like we had in 2006."
Lim comes to LMU from right down the 405 at South Torrance High School. Lim posted a 75 in the Northern Individual Regional of the CIF Southern Sectional Playoffs at Sterling Hills Golf Course. The 2007 first-team All-Conference selection by the Daily Breeze finished 40th out of 87 players at the Southern Sectional on May 23 at the PGA of Southern California Golf Course in Beaumont.
Another Southern California product was Martin. The Thousand Oaks High School graduate went to Moorpark College and helped the squad to a second place Western State Conference Championships. His 73 helped him finish in a tie for third at the annual championship. This past week Martin finished 23rd at the SCGA Amateur Golf Championship with a four-round 288, including a third-round 68.
Continuing the trend of local players coming to LMU, Moss is a Brentwood High School graduate from Sherman Oaks. He returns to Southern California after spending a season at IUPUI in Indiana (2004-05) and another season at College of the Canyons (2006-07). While at Canyons, he helped the squad to the 2007 Southern California Regional Championship, posting 154 to push the team to an eight-stroke win.
During the 2007 California Community College Men's Golf State Championships at the Merced Golf and Country Club (Par-72, 6,519 yards), he shot a 70 in the afternoon session to help team finish fourth.
