Hayes Competing In Oregon Stroke Play Event

CRESWELL, Ore. - Gonzaga University senior Jimmy Hayes of Redmond, Wash., is tied for 33rd after 36 holes of the Oregon Men's Stroke Play Championship heading into Sunday's final round.

Hayes had rounds of 78-78 for a 36-hole total of 156 over the 7,073-yard par-71 Emerald Valley Golf Club layout.

Isaiah Telles, 16, of Tualatin, Ore., and recent Oregon Amateur champion Mitchell Gillis of Corvallis, Ore. are the open division leaders. Gillis shot the only sub-par round of the day, and his 2-over par 75-70--145 total earned him a spot in the final pairing, while Telles narrowly held onto his first round lead shooting 3-over par 74 for the day.

There are only five other players within 5 shots of the leader. The cut came at 16-over par 158.
