PEBBLE BEACH, CALIF. - Sophomore Conor McElyea shot a 72 in the third and final round of Saint Mary's Invitational to assist the San Francisco men's golf team to a 15th-place finish Tuesday.
McElyea cut six strokes off his previous two rounds to tie for 47th with a score of 228 (78-78-72). Sophomore Chris Cunningham led the Dons' through all three rounds with a stroke tally of 225 (75-76-74), 33rd-place finish individually. Adding scores of 233 from senior Kenny Adams (82-74-77), 233 from junior Tony Toulon (80-76-77) and 234 from sophomore Thomas Buran (81-76-77) USF had a collective score of 916 (314-302-300).
Led by individual winning Wesley Williams, who scored of 214 for the tournament, Baylor University took the team title. UAB placed second with a score of 882, while Saint Mary's and UT-Arlington claimed a tie for third with scores of 883.
USF will next compete in the Hawks Invitational in Bolton, Mass., on Friday and Saturday.
