USF Men's Golf At Hawks Invitational Friday And Saturday

STORYLINE: The San Francisco men's golf team will take part in the Hawks Invitational hosted by University of Hartford this weekend. Opening tee time is set for Friday at 7:30 a.m. at the International Golf Club in Bolton, Mass. Live stats will be available at golfstatresults.com.

THE INFO: Teams will play 36 holes on Friday and a final 18 on Saturday. Along with the Dons, Binghamton, Brown, Columbia, Connecticut, Florida Gulf Coast, Hartford, Old Dominion, Penn State, Sacred Heart, St. John's, Texas San Antonio and West Florida will compete at the event.

This week's USF traveling team will include junior Kurt Nino, sophomore Chris Cunningham, sophomore Connor McElyea and freshman E.J. Kahn.

OFF SEASON TID BITS:

• Nino, who was out most of last year because of surgery, will make his season debut following an off-season which saw him win the Hawaiian Amateur Championship.

• Kahn makes his collegiate debut after taking tenth at the California Amateur event.

• Senior Kenny Adams won the Oceanside City Championships and junior Tony Toulon led the Memorial Tournament into the final holes.

LAST TIME OUT: The Dons took 15th with a combined score of 916 (314-302-300) at the Saint Mary's Invitational in Pebble Beach, Calif., this past Monday and Tuesday. Cunningham led the team with a score of 225 (75-76-74), 33rd-place individually. McElyea shot a 72 in the final round, six strokes better than the first or second, to finish 47th with a score of 228.
